ALL OVERSEEN BY EYECARE EXPERTS AT OUR VIRTUAL CLINIC

iRIS enables the separation of the physical appointment and review processes allowing patients to be seen and fully assessed by one care provider in a convenient location for them, but then quickly and seamlessly receive specialist ophthalmologist diagnosis, treatment and prescriptions remotely, through our virtual clinic, thereby saving both patient time and valuable ophthalmologist resources.

STAKEHOLDER BENEFITS

BENEFITS FOR PATIENTS

Provides the patient with a more convenient, prompt, accurate and professional experience for their glaucoma related appointments.

Given the choice, patients overwhelmingly choose to be seen in the community rather than at the hospital eye service.  Community Glaucoma Clinics are located in optometrists retail sites or specialist medical centres with a customer friendly approach to the patient experience.  They utilise the latest equipment and are often already familiar to the patient.  They are generally located in convenient high street/retail centres, further reducing the stress and anxiety associated with the driving, parking and locating of the necessary department, that a hospital visit may entail.

iRIS delivers the entire patient pathway that allows patients to be identified, diagnosed, treated and monitored in these local community settings, avoiding hospital visits and unnecessary face to face consultant appointments.

BENEFITS FOR THE LOCAL EYE HOSPITAL

Helping to reduce the burden on the hospital eye department by diverting many new referrals and transferring suitable existing stable glaucoma patients from the eye hospital and into community based glaucoma services.

Eye Hospital Departments are often one of the busiest in UK Hospitals. They have finite space and resources to deal with the increasing burden of routine glaucoma patients.  Identifying and transferring suitable stable glaucoma patients into the community can significantly reduce their routine appointments visits, allowing eye department resources to to be focused on more complex/surgical patients.  iRIS also includes a Referral Refinement/Repeat Pressures module, allowing community optometrists to undertake repeat pressure checks to help avoid further unnecessary referrals for suspect glaucoma to the Eye Hospital.

BENEFITS FOR COMMISSIONERS

Control, Compliance, Security & Value

iRIS provides real-time reporting functionality for service commissioners to access patient activity, numbers and outcomes at any time, for billing and audit purposes.

iRIS follows established NICE guidelines and gives suggested diagnosis, appointment types, treatments and follow-up timescales to ensure consistent compliance with the latest protocols, reducing the potential of misinterpretation and variability of results between users.

iRIS is secure, residing on Carelink, a Consumer Network Service Provider (CN-SP) which is fully compliant for delivering connectivity network services to the HSCN network.

iRIS provides centralised billing which allows authorised administrators to invoice commissioners and pay the community clinics from shared reports.  This saves time, manual resources and avoids any duplication or under/over-charging.

Billable events are only incurred once an entire pathway appointment has been fully concluded, meaning that part appointments/cancelled appointments/did not attends cannot be charged to the commissioners.

BENEFITS FOR OPTOMETRISTS

Participating in enhanced clinical services helps to drive continuing professional development.

Maintaining and improving professional skills and knowledge is important for providing high quality care for patients and raising professional standards.

Using iRIS to deliver community glaucoma services creates new revenue opportunities for optometrists, whilst allowing them to provide additional valuable services to their patients, support their local health services and gain further professional accreditation and credibility.
